Project Information

Kernit

Kernit is inspired by the work and characters created by the late Jim Henson. Kernit was developed as part of our initial design exploration for The Jim Henson Exhibition at The Museum of the Moving Image in New York City.

This typeface is meant to capture the same imagination, fun and whimsy which we came to love in Henson’s vivid work. The typeface has two display weights: Kernit Bold and Kernit Outline. The pieces are designed to be used interchangeably, much like the “Anything Muppets” built by Henson and his team for use on the breakthrough children’s television series he helped create, Sesame Street.

The typeface is available for download here.
